Wednesday 21 August - Miniatur Wunderland

We spent the entire day at Miniatur Wunderland. We looked at things in detail and only managed to cover about two thirds of it, including a behind the scenes tour. This was very much as expected as we also have tickets for tomorrow to finish off. Having been there last year as well we were very much aware that this is not now a model railway but a model world which includes trains, motor driven vehicles, boats and planes.

The one item that sets out this operation from all the others, apart from its size of course, is the incredible attention to detail. There are thousands of figures all with a purpose. I found myself taking very few pictures of the trains but a lot of my pictures cover details which set out the ingenuity of the people who make this work.

The airport is the natural attraction for most people so we went there first to see it before the crowds came. Even here the attention to detain is evident. There are a lot of trucks running about, all with a purpose and the buses come out to meet the planes which do not have a bridge to a gate.  It is best to show the pictures I have chosen.
