Saturday 5 January - Close to home

Today was when the gilet jaunes were to have a manifestation in Paris. I went out first to the Batignolles Organic Market and bought a gougere coming back via St-Lazare. There was no sign of police or protesters. The rue de Levis was very busy with midday shoppers bearing in mind that Monoprix closes on Sunday (it stayed open during the holiday season). However, we managed our purchases at Monoprix, Naturalia, the butcher, and the cheese monger in good time. The TV news was showing the manifestation in the area of the Hotel de Ville so we decided to go out the the Square des Batignolles and then on to Martin Luther King park.
It was good to see two Mandarin drakes and two ducks and we also saw a duck which we have not seen before.

This duck has an attractive plumage

Petanque was in full swing on a Saturday afternoon
