Sunday 6 January - Champs Elysees

We walked to the Porte Maillot for lunch at Le Relais de Venise.  It was a good day for walking and we arrived in plenty of time so were seated quickly when the door was opened. As usual the meal and the wine were good and we enjoyed the conversation with our neighbors.

The Champs Elysees is closed to vehicle traffic one Sunday in each month and we enjoyed a walk down the middle. It is an enormous space and several people were just sitting in the middle of what is usually a heavily traffic road. Just think that yesterday there was a violent demonstration with tear gas and water cannons.

We walked on past the closed section past the Place de la Concorde which has been freed of that nasty ferris wheel and the associated stalls that cuttered the area.

Today was the last day if the Tuileries Christmas Market which was  success. It was crowded and many kids were enjoying the rides.

After this long walk we took the metro back to Villiers.
