Tuesday 1 January - New Year's Day

The New Year dawned cloudy but mild and with little wind, not that we were up early enough to see the dawn. We decided to walk through Monceau Parc up to the Arc de Triomphe and then down the Champs Elysees.

Monceau has some interesting landscape effects

There were a couple of noisy parakeets in one of the trees. They spend a lot of time in the plane trees eating the seeds.

There was plenty of evidence of last nights festivities in the form of empty bottles and other litter but it seems the celebration went off peacefully.

The Champs Elysees had a large number of tourists and was not particularly pleasant so we turned east ar Franklin Roosevelt and came back thorough Monceau. Dinner this evening was a shoulder of lamb with a honey balsamic dressing from Marks and Spencer with beans, potatoes, mushrooms and champagne.
